Our History

The Marshall Baptist Association was formed in December of 1887 by 13 churches formerly in the Warrior River Association and one from the Mt. Carmel Association.

Formation of the association occurred roughly 50 years after the county's establishment, reflecting the need for formal organization in a settled, growing community.

The association was created to:

Support Local Missions:

  • Organize evangelical efforts and share resources for spreading the gospel in the region.

Strengthen Churches:

  • Provide fellowship, training, and a united voice for Baptist congregations throughout Marshall County.

Coordinate Ministries:

  • Facilitate collaborative efforts, which, while focusing on evangelism in 1887, later grew to include social ministries and disaster relief.

Today, there are currently 98 member churches within the Marshall Baptist Association.
